About the Society
A.E. Van Fleet is a queer artist, designer, game master, and founder of the Short Rest Society. He holds an MFA in Studio Art & Design and a BA in Graphic Design. For 10 years, he has used unconventional materials to create artwork that explores symbolism, pop culture, and personal identity.
In 2025, he founded the Short Rest Society to write and illustrate homebrew content for his favorite tabletop RPGs, including D&D 5e and Daggerheart. Van Fleet creates his signature illustrations using masking tape and shoe polish. Since then, he has expanded into a range of products for tabletop role-playing fans, including stickers and tote bags.
